Group of Widowed Fathers Have Banded Together in the Wake of Their Wives’ Deaths: ‘They Saved Me’

Happy Father’s Day! We love all you wonderful Dad’s out there.

When Neill Guy lost his wife Deanna to pneumonia in 2009 he was left to care for their four kids — the youngest just four, the oldest barely 14.

Guy was overcome with grief, he tells PEOPLE, and remembers feeling like the wrong parent had died.

“That’s just how I absolutely felt. I was grieving because I lost my wife and my best friend, but I was more grieving that my kids lost their mom. I didn’t want my kids to grow up without their mom,” he recalls.

A short, but devastating conversation with his four-year old helped awaken Guy to the challenging new role he’d have to take on as a parent, he says. Full Beautiful Story Here.

I Donated A Kidney To My Husband To Save His Life

I’d fallen in love with Bryan as a sophomore at Syracuse University. We were both English majors who just clicked. He taught me to appreciate trees, Kurt Vonnegut, Carlos Santana, blue cheese. Our 15 years together had been filled with hiking and traveling and laughing and dancing.

We were working on our second guidebook to Hawaii when the only nephrologist on the Big Island shocked us with Bryan’s diagnosis: He had an incurable autoimmune disease called IgA nephropathy. Antibodies would attack his kidneys until they failed. Since he was only in his mid-30s, there was no question that Bry would need a kidney transplant at some point. Full Story and Video Here.

How A Tiny Coffee Company Is Taking On The Homelessness Crisis

This is a must read. Change Please, a coffee company, has a really good idea that’s already in practice today.

Cemal Ezel founded Change Please in 2015 after being inspired by a Vietnamese tea house run by a woman who was deaf and mute. “I had enough of walking past people begging for change and holding out a coffee cup,” Ezel says. “The problem of homelessness is getting much worse, but at the same time, the global coffee business is valued at $80 billion. If we put the two together, we can really solve homelessness.”

“Your vanilla Frappuccino from Starbucks is always the same,” he says. “But with Change Please, you actually have somebody who appreciates the fact that you stopped to get some coffee from them that’s going to be good. For me, it’s a win-win.” Full Story Here.

A brown-and-white furry face with dark eyes peeked out at Billy Norris from behind a cage door.

Two Southwest Florida International Airport employees had just wheeled the gray dog crate out from the cargo area.

He bent down, opened the crate door, and the three-legged dog, Lucky, stepped onto the pavement. Full Story and Video…

Millie Sawyer has saved closed to 70 dogs from being euthanized. But one dog has quite the story!

Stitch, an American Staffordshire Terrier Mix, was one day from being euthanized. “We got her at the very last minute,” Sawyer told WFAA.

Johnson introduced Stitch to the sport of fly ball, where dogs run a short course. But it really came as a surprise to Johnson when Stitch ran a record time of 4.117 seconds — which she says is the fastest time for the Staffordshire class. Full Story…

At the age of 15, Stewart was discovered by a modeling agent. At first, it was exciting. But soon, the pressures of the industry consumed her world from there on out. Your Odds of Succeeding Improve When You Create a Success Plan
