Oxytocin – The Love Drug
The Love Drug. The Cuddle Drug. The Trust Drug. All of these names refer to one drug in particular: Oxytocin. If you’ve ever been reading a book and a character talks about getting a warm and fuzzy feeling, that’s oxytocin. If you watched cartoons as a kid and saw a character suddenly have hearts for eyes, that’s oxytocin. Studies have shown that it can help with a variety of maladies, from the common headache to entire body aches. Oxytocin has anti-inflammatory properties. Another great side effect to Oxytocin is that is assists with keeping stress levels down and can even ease stomach issues. Oxytocin can also assist in combating fear, irrational concerns and worries by inhibiting the brains fear center.
